The Big Year Christmas Eve in Duluth

The-Big-Year-Duluth

So, I’m fairly sure that no one has mentioned on PDD before that the 2011 movie The Big Year, which screened locally at Zinema 2, has a brief reference to Duluth. (Laura Erickson did mention it on her birding blog, though.)

The shot above is followed by a restaurant scene that is supposed to be in Duluth but is obviously not.

The odd thing about this is it’s at least the third movie featuring Brian Dennehy that references Duluth (Trumbo and Category 6: Day of Destruction being two others).

Mark Ryan, if you’re out there, it might be time to update the ol’ “Return to Duluth” video.

I thought we discussed this last year…I could be mistaken though.

There was a post about Trumbo, so you might be thinking of that.

They referenced the Zim Bog too. That’s just west of Cotton.

I just saw an episode of Cheers the other day, and Sam mentioned that Coach went to visit his sister, who lived in Duluth. So we can claim Coach’s sister, for what it’s worth.

And there is this from Garden State, brought up on PDD six years ago:
