My criteria for a perfect Duluth day are actual fairly variable. Weather is one factor and, actually, a sleety, cold, windy day has good odds to be a perfect Duluth day given the right circumstances. It’s very hard for me to pin down these variables though. Anyone have thoughts on that?
In the conversations we had leading up to the creation of this site, the term “perfect Duluth day” had absolutely nothing to do with weather, and everything to do with how you actually spent the day.
Perfection better not be dependent on weather, or we’re just a lot less perfect than most other places in the world. I heard on NPR a while back that people who live in cold climates are generally happier. I think Norway was near the top – tropical places near the bottom in terms of “happiness” whatever that means. 🙂
Still – it sure was nice to hang out at the river yesterday.
A PPD is running into people while doing errands, hiking or skiing in Chester, taken in a performance or gallery show of one of the many secret artist that populate this city – and then hearing the Lift Bridge salute as you head home.
I love all weather and a perfect Duluth day isn’t dependent on weather for me at all–but I just had to say it yesterday. After winter it seems like a miracle that we get summer…the contrast is so extreme!
When the weather is just right for what you want to do that day, that is the perfect Duluth day.
Warm sunny day + book on the beach + beer and bs with the neighbors until after dark = yesterday was the perfect Duluth day. Catching up on all the chores I put off yesterday = today, not so perfect. 🙂
I had a Perfect Duluth Weekend! S’mores at a friend’s house over a little firepit in the backyard, shows at Carmody and the Brewhouse, a play at the Playhouse, bikerides, brunch at Luce, a hike through the woods, a concert fundraiser, friends, sunshine, sitting on my porch reading the NY Times…
I hope we have at least another one this year!

Farmers market 7 AM. worked in the garden from 10-4. Nap. Salmon with a petite sirah for dinner. Cocktails, cigar & the kindle on the deck till dark.
Highlights: Camping under the stars, swimming, s’mores and scotch (after kids’ bedtime) at Pattison, Disc Golf tourney at Mont Du Lac on Sunday.
