Questions about Eagle Hill Development
I recently moved out of a property that was managed by Eagle Hill Development. After I moved, I received an invoice that listed what was going to be deducted from my security deposit. However, many of the deductions were for ambiguous things such as “repairs” without any explanation of what the repairs were.
They provided a number that we could call if we had any questions. Unfortunately, after three voicemail messages and six calls over the span of three weeks, I have received no response of any kind whatsoever.
This behavior is very characteristic of what I experienced when I was renting from them. If we had an issue/question of any kind, it took them days and sometimes weeks to respond. My question is: Has anyone else experienced a similar problem with this company?
My patience is wearing very thin at this point and I just want the money they owe me which, as of now, has still not been sent to me (over a month after I moved out). Please help. I am tired of being taken advantage of by these people.
Bella, Missing Cat from East Hillside
Myself, along with others I know have all had our cats go missing within this past week. Are there others experiencing this horrible phenomena?
I am absolutely bummed about this. Bella has never been away from home for more than a few hours.
She is an orange and white cat, around 8 Ibs. She was last seen June 30, on East Eighth Street between 7th and 8th avenue. She may or may not still be wearing her pink ‘safetycat’ collar with ID.
If you have any information regarding her, or if you even think you may have spotted her, please contact us @: ricer26 @ yahoo.com.
We miss her so much. She is a beloved member of our family.

Who is on Google Plus?
For such a wee little place, it seems like Duluth has a pretty large footprint. Your thoughts? Comments?
I’ve been enjoying it, but it is definitely a very tech heavy crowd that I’ve seen so far (for obvious reasons, who else would you want to beta test something?). But I’m always game for connecting more with liberal arts, socks-with-sandals, bumper-sticker activist types.
Testing WordPress Twitter Feed 1..2..3
Need to test the Twitter feed… I hope it works. Follow PDD on Twitter: https://twitter.com/#!/PerfectDuluth
Here are some Fourth Weekend North Shore photos to make the test worthwhile.
Battle for Duluth
I heard this morning about World of Fourcraft which uses Foursquare as an engine for a giant game with teams trying to take over New York City.
So, fellow nerds, why don’t we have this for the Twin Ports? Anyone want to tackle this? Sounds like great fun! Imagine Cakeeaters battling marauding hordes of displaced Trojans. I mean, just the team names would be a hoot!
Eighth Birthday Party Announcement and Other PDD-related Matters
Next Wednesday, June 29, is Perfect Duluth Day’s eighth birthday. As usual, we are having a little get-together, and as usual we are inviting you all, as frightening as that might seem.
So swing on by the Burrito Union next Wednesday in the vague window of 8:30 to 10 p.m. or so. There will be no program or live music or plan to get people drunk and sell them condos; it’s just our annual opportunity to meet in person and shoot the breeze with the folks who put the P in our double-D.
In addition, yours truly will be a guest on “The Local” with Christine Dean next week, celebrating PDD’s birthday by playing songs with “Duluth” in the lyrics or title. That’s Wednesday, June 29, 5 p.m., on 103.3 FM KUMD.
By the way, we should probably let you all know what’s up with some of the technical weirdness PDD intermittently experienced in recent weeks. Here are the boring details:

Duluth’s Enger Tower, refurbished
Enger Tower reopened yesterday after three months of concrete patching, roof repairing, repainting, fancy new light installing, etc.
It looks great.

PDD Disinfected. Resume blogging.
Sorry about the little Malware problem earlier today.
I’d tell you what happened, but then I’d have to ask the tech guy and he’d have to explain it to me and, well … it’s a nice day and the problem is solved.

Lost Keys Near Chester Bowl?
Is there anybody (or do you know anybody) who lost car keys near Chester Bowl in the last day or two? If so, some kind soul has hung them by their lanyard at the Kent Rd. end of the retaining wall fence along the road through the bowl. Been there since yesterday (Friday). Cheers.
$363,142 Questions
I was at Cub Foods tonight, bagging up my groceries, when I spotted the ATM at the Wells Fargo branch and decided to withdraw some cash. As I waited for the transaction to go through, I glanced at a stray ATM receipt sitting atop the machine. And boy, was it more interesting than I expected:
A withdrawal from a checking account with a balance of $363,142.39!!! (more…)
Ridiculous Amount of Graffiti in Duluth
Is it just me, or is there an insane amount of vandalism in Duluth this spring? It seems like everywhere I go there’s a bunch of random scribbles on everything. I’m even seeing it on the sides of people’s houses! I went for a walk down in the ol’ Canal Park this morning, the first time this year since the thaw, only to be pretty disappointed by what I found.

Makoons
Has anyone seen the little bear on Park Point? I first saw it last Saturday by the water pumping station. We surprised each other and ran our separate ways. Then today I was driving back from the Park Point Airport and saw him (?) again, at 41st Street, inspecting a garbage can. I pulled over to take a picture. He sort of hid in the shade on someone’s front stoop (!). The photo looks weird because I had to brighten it way up to make the bear visible.
How did this bear get onto the point? How long has he been there? How old is he? He’s Newfoundland-sized. Will he swim to Wisconsin where the accommodations are less urban? Does the Park Point Community Club have a bear relocation program?
Hippest State in the Union?
Can this be true? Does the 612 really have that much clout? Rochester is pretty quiet and St. Cloud is, well, St Cloud. And we have Willmar, and the ball of twine and Paul Bunyan, and Funkley and Nimrod and two towns called Oslo. So I ask, is Duluth really that “hip” to make up the difference?
What is the current state of literature?
I am asking all opinions on the state of literature today. Does it exist? Is there a difference between Literature and what most people read today (if they do happen to read).
It makes me sad that many men see reading as a “women’s” activity. Don’t we all appreciate a good story? Why is any novel that has an “Oprah” symbol on it now seen as weak fluff that is not suitable for men to read?
I hate buying books that have the movie cover on the book. Most of the time I have never even heard of a really good book until it is set to come out as a movie. Is that the only way books actually sell?
I am not sure if I will ever own an e-reader but I know I will never give up my books.
Where is the $lizzard?
Last I saw of the Homegrown $lizzard, Knifey was running wildly down Superior Street.
Darn Kids and Their Music
Somebody tell them to turn down their music at Leif Erickson and/or Bayfront Park. I live above Skyline and it’s been driving me insane. And while they’re at it, get off my lawn.
