I just moved back here. I’m looking to learn from someone who knows.
Also, any 8-bit musicians around here?
The Life of Riley – Sneak Preview

At long last, 4 Track Films is having a sneak preview of its latest feature length film, The Life of Riley. Come on down to the Zinema on Monday, June 13, and be the first to see the film. The Life of Riley not only shows off the beauty of Duluth and the North Shore, but also features many local (and a few from the Twin Cities) actors, technicians and designers. Also featuring homegrown music from Low, the Black-eyed Snakes, Charlie Parr, Haley Bonar, Mary Bue, the Alrights, the Very People, Cars & Trucks, the Keep Aways, Kathy McTavish, Crew Jones, Equal Xchange and Minnesota-grown Martin Zellar.
This screening will be a fundraiser to help us get a jump start on our festival circuit. $10 suggested donation with Q&A and informal reception afterward.
If you have any questions, please email Carrie at carrie @ 4trackfilms.com
Thanks for all your support!
Random Questions
- Where can I get a fresh House of Donuts style donut? I’m craving one something fierce.
- Are there any flea markets in the area? I used to love going to the one in Superior until it went up in a big toxic poof of smoke.
- Is anyone else having problems with the PDD comments RSS feed? I’m not seeing new comments and am wondering if it’s just a problem with my reader.
- Are there any local artists who create palladium jewelry?
- What weird or interesting new thing did you learn today?
Thanks for your time! Now back to your regularly scheduled PDD.

You may have already read the glowing review of this musical, or heard people raving about it in the DNT or on Facebook, but let me add my own two cents.
Don’t go see this show because you want to show your support for aspiring young talent. Don’t go because you think it’s important to support programs like this that enrich our youth and enliven our community. Don’t go out of a sense of duty.
Go because this show kicks ass. Go to be thoroughly entertained. Go to enjoy yourself. I promise you will be humming the songs for at least a week afterwards.
These young performers in our community are not the “up and coming” talent. They’re already there. Take notes.

Review of 13 at the Duluth Playhouse

This review is not targeted at the (justifiably) proud parents of the cast of 13, nor anyone else who has tickets to the show in hand. Rather, this review is targeted at those of you who, like me, peruse the schedule of Duluth’s many arts events and consider a Children’s Theatre productionas something to skip. Which would be a shame, because to miss this show is to miss one of the true delights of this year’s theatre season.

So follow the same guidelines for submitting photos, but send us Homegrown-related images. You know, people drinking beer, playing rawknroll, hanging out, scans of your long-form birth certificate, and so on. We’ll rotate homegrown images during next week’s festivities.
