Bob L has it. It was on the corner of 29th Avenue West and Michigan Street, on the avenue side of the building. They removed the sign when the building was renovated.
‘Where in Duluth’ offers me a chance to ask if anyone knows Dick Winkler? I just sold his copy of the Iron Butterfly’s Inagaddadavida on Amazon today, and he had his name stamped on back with phone number, which was high tech album marking for back then. Yet upon further inspection, I realized his telephone number hasn’t changed in 47 years. Is that possible? Dick Winkler anyone?
Ha! I looked at the post and was like “I know where that is!” So I was going to post a link to a photo I had taken, but then looked over at the comment Tomasz made and job done! Man, I haven’t uploaded anything to Panoramio in a long while.
I believe this was taken just to the right of the employment office.
In the alley behind 117 East NW First Street West, in Northwest Duluth. I distinctly remember that sign!
Looks familiar… was that on one of the buildings at Clyde Iron?

Another view …
Wow, I should have used that photo instead of my crappy old grainy monstrosity.

It should be further noted the tax assessor’s name is Donald Dicklich.
