Duluth Tall Ships / Music and Maritime Festival 2011 Photos
I went on a little paddle Saturday afternoon to see if I could track down any of those “tall” ships.
I found a couple and I can confirm they are tall.

Below are a few band snapshots from the weekend, to put the “music” in the Duluth Music and Maritime Festival.
By the way, the music is over now, but the maritime continues today. The Pride of Baltimore II and Lynx added a Monday day-sail to their schedules. Both ships will be sailing from 1 to 3 p.m.
The US Brig Niagara will leave Duluth on Monday afternoon for her return to Erie, PA. Both the Pride of Baltimore II and Lynx will depart on Tuesday.

I missed the Maritime Fest, b/c I was kicking back at the Reggae Fest which was FANTASTIC! How was attendance there? How was the vibe? We went the first year, but it doesn’t seem to be something I’d want to go to every year it’s held — though the music there was a great lineup.
Fantastic shots, Cory. And Paul, that last one of yours is, well, perfect.
Claire, technically this was the first year of the Duluth Music and Maritime Festival. Tall ships have been to Duluth before, but not with a corresponding music lineup. (Although last year there were bands at the LaFarge Cement Terminal, but that was the Duluth Treasure Adventure event.)
Paul, sounds like you made the rounds, I saw you at Reggae Fest. I didn’t realize until Sunday afternoon that I could have gone over to the Maritime Fest and gotten in free with my Reggae Fest wristband. Next time… What a perfect Duluth weekend it was.
Thanks for posting man, I wanted to be there but couldn’t make it from Mankato. What a sick lineup for the show! Tall ships in the background? Amazing.
It would be cool to be involved in this next year if this is the direction the festival is going. The Treasure Adventure stuff did not go well last year.
Ugh, the Treasure Adventure thing was a mis-managed pile of crap! They had lots of grand plans, but when it came time to do it, they couldn’t manage to pull everything together.
Also, laugh at their domain name.
Yes there was some problems with Treasure Adventure, due mainly to the incompetence of the event planners that were hired. Not to mention the local powers that be hassling them at every turn. As to the authenticity of the treasure, there were some of the top authorities in the field involved so I find it hard to believe that could even be rumored.
