Wild Rice Pizza in Duluth?
Anyone know of a restaurant that sells wild rice pizza? Looking for something like the ones at Sven & Ole’s pizza in Grand Marais. (Wild rice, Canadian bacon, mushrooms, olives, peppers onions). Simple, yet different.

You should ask Luce if they’d do something like that, they seem to revel in creating interesting pizzas. Love their Athenian, yum.
I got a meatless version of this once at the co-op eons ago (okay, maybe 2007-ish). It’s worth requesting it there, too, since they tend to be open to suggestions.
I believe there’s one in the pizza place in Proctor, the Railway.
Yes, the Railway Pizzeria & Bar in Proctor has a Chicken Wild Rice pizza on its menu.

Wild rice, plus REAL bacon, not that Canuck shite, plus garlic, mushrooms, peppers, onions etc., would be kinda good.
Otherwise it’s just HAM = not worthy of my time.
HAM is a deli meat = it goes on sammiches, Not PIZZA (like pineapple), or dontcha think there’d be way more fruit on pizza besides pineapple and tomato? Seriously, fruit pizza is a baby/wedding shower hors d’oeuvres. Ask yer Aunties.
Personally, I’d prefer garlic based (like a ‘real’ white pizza – akin to a Davanni’s white hand-tossed, not that thin shite that Northlanders call pizza), and not alfredo – as some/most/all alfredos are just, well more thick and chunky, and let’s say not the sort of creamy you’d wanna be eating, but that’s me.
IMO best pizza up round these parts is at the Thirsty Pagan or Lucé.
The best Pagan ever so far was a Thai Chicken last May (specialty pizza)…jus’ sayin.
I’ll see your Athena, and raise you the: Ruby Rae, Shrimp al Pesto, Garlic Mashed, Baked Potato, Spanish Chicken – but I so miss the Mexican chicken with black beans – whatever it’s cutsie lil name was.
If you wanna meet, split a zah, go halvsies on ingredients/types to try something new – hit me up. The rest can suck it.
Duluth ain’t no Chicago or NY, but Pagan and Lucé are the best for what this area has to offer.
Consolation Prize = Sammy’s white. A basic garlic pizza, which for some reads: Garlic Cheese Pizza or Garlic Melt.
Mildly addicting fo sho.
AND the only THIN pizza I would ever dream of succumbing to.
Now, if they threw a few toppings on it, or went for a veggie white (like Davanni’s = Mushrooms, Red Onions, Black and Green Olives, Green Peppers and Extra Cheese – add chicken), and gave it the more awesome ‘hand tossed’ crust = FTW!
Otherwise, it’s just jerkin me around and wasting my hard(ly) earned money.
The downtown Duluth location is called R Bar: A Railway Pizzeria.
It’s at 21 N. Fourth Ave. W., which is the former location of … in reverse chronological order … Score Sports Bar & Grill, the Duluth Athletic Club Bar & Grill, Champp’s Americana, Blue Water Bar & Grill and Bella Vita Ristorante.
Love Sammy’s pesto pizza. And that shrimp al pesto at Luce is indeed fabulous. Totally agree with ruby2sd4y, Luce and the Pagan — and Sammys! Don’t even bother with the rest, though I’ve heard T-Bonz in the Friendly West End is good.
Paul, wasn’t that the location of the former Chinese Lantern as well?
Yes. The Chinese Lantern and Brass Phoenix Nightclub were there until a kitchen fire destroyed the place in 1994. About three years later the Bella Vita opened.
Before the Chinese Lantern the building was the original Duluth Athletic Club.
Yes the RBar has some amazing wild rice pizza, 21 W 4th Street…old DAC building
