PDD Shop Talk: The Usual Spiel
Keeping Duluth’s Duluthiest website running with new content every day has been an ongoing financial challenge for 22 years, but Perfect Duluth Day is still here, still free to read and still kicking out the daily goods. Advertising revenue keeps the operation going, but donations help us do more and do it better.
That’s why we occasionally toss up a post like this one to remind everyone that donations are a big help. (more…)
PDD Shop Talk: We’re looking to hire an event calendar editor
The event submissions keep flowing into the PDD Calendar and our crew of four editors just isn’t enough to stay on top of it. We need to hire one more part-time helper.
But before we get into that, we lead with the standard reminder that Perfect Duluth Day is run by human beings and not machines. So if you appreciate it, drop a few bucks in the PayPal account. (more…)
PDD Shop Talk: Failure
Perfect Duluth Day attempted to launch an update to its WordPress theme this week. It failed. So we are continuing with the old theme and attempting to regroup. (more…)

PDD Shop Talk: Help keep the information flowing
Two obvious things you should know about Perfect Duluth Day: 1) It could be better. 2) It could be worse.
The existence of this website depends heavily on the work of talented writers and reporters who deserve to be compensated. The funds to do that come from advertising sold to local businesses and donations from readers. The more cash that goes in, the more work that goes out. That’s why we occasionally toss up a post to remind everyone that donations are a big help. (more…)
PDD Shop Talk: Labor Day Weekend Edition
For a tad more than 21 years, Perfect Duluth Day has depended heavily on unpaid labor. Though multiple independent contractors receive paychecks for their contributions to the website, the amount of work that goes out has always greatly exceeded the amount of dollars that come in. That’s why we occasionally toss up a post to remind everyone that PDD can always be better or worse based on cash flow, so donations are a big help. (more…)
PDD Shop Talk: Inflation Edition
You’ve probably noticed most things are more expensive these days. But reading Perfect Duluth Day is just as free as it has always been.
Keeping Duluth’s Duluthiest website running with new content every day, however, comes with a price tag. That’s why we occasionally toss up a post like this one to remind everyone that PDD can always be better or worse based on cash flow, so donations are a big help. (more…)

PDD Shop Talk: Help Perfect the Perfection
For more than 20 years, Perfect Duluth Day has remained committed to serving up its content with no paywalls and without overly obtrusive advertising. That doesn’t make paying the bills easy, but with modest income from sidebar advertising and the generous contributions of readers we continue to get it done.
So if you appreciate the thorough listings of hoopla on the PDD Calendar and/or the features on the PDD Blog, kindly drop a few bucks in the PayPal account. (more…)
PDD Shop Talk: Last Call for 2023 Donations

PDD Shop Talk: Final words on the first 20 years

The Latelys performed on the outdoor stage at Bent Paddle Brewing on June 29 during PDDXX: Perfect Duluth Day’s 20th Birthday Party.
It’s been two months since Perfect Duluth Day celebrated its 20th anniversary. The speed of life hasn’t allowed much time for reflection and gratitude, so this post is an attempt to jam that in so we can properly push forward with the next 20 years. (more…)

PDD Shop Talk: Last call for 2022 donations
Perfect Duluth Day will celebrate 20 years of being Duluth’s Duluthiest website on June 29, 2023. At some point this year, we’ll be relaunching the site under a new WordPress theme and hoping we don’t break everything in the process. But before we get further into explaining that, we lead with the standard plug for donations to ensure the whole operation remains solvent.
So if you appreciate the thorough listings of hoopla on the PDD Calendar and/or the features on the PDD Blog, kindly drop a few bucks in the PayPal account. (more…)

Basically we’re just going to stop calling our grovel a grovel, but we’re also going to start providing a little more behind-the-curtain information. (more…)
