Lost Fedora in the Garden of the Plaza
Below is the text from an interesting Craiglist ad posted today.

You: Wandering around with an outfit that is probably a mess without me. YOU HEARD ME. You’re a MESS without me.

Lost: Black cat with blue scar in right eye
I think my sweet cat Patrick accidentally got out last night at 9:30 p.m. I haven’t seen him since. If you see him around 17th Avenue East and Jefferson Street, within a mile radius, please let me know! He has a blue collar (or had when he got out), is declawed, and has a blue scar in the lower part of his right eye. Please call 218-590-1136 or email heidibagley @ yahoo.com with any information, thanks!
Kitten Found on 15th Ave. E. & Third St.
I found an all-black kitten I would guess was about 3-4 months old. It was very friendly and meowed a lot. Seemed used to people since it ran up to me and followed me home. Knocked on about 17 doors nearby and couldn’t find an owner. Couldn’t bring it home to my own cats (risk of FeLV, worms, fleas, etc). I brought it to animal control where it is being housed. I spoke with Animal Allies who said that I needed to go through animal control rather than bringing it directly to a shelter. I am hoping that the kitty makes it there or someone on here sees this and claims the sweet little guy (or girl). If this is your cat, please post or call animal control on 27th Avenue West.
Lost guitar pedals (Found!!)
UPDATE: Thanks to perfectduluthday.com, the sound guy at the Rex emailed me and said he found my pedals! Sure enough, one of the bands I share a practice space with accidentally grabbed it.
Instead of deleting this post, I will use it to illustrate how important PerfectDuluthDay is to our community. Thanks Paul & the gang!
Lost Dog in Lakeside
Found a little lost dog in Lakeside near 52nd Avenue East and Dodge Street this morning. It has a purple collar but no tags. It has an injured right, rear leg and seems like it was out for a while (very hungry and matted, but just had chicken and water!). I will bring her to the Duluth Animal Shelter.

Lost Wedding Ring at Piedmont
Should you happen to find a wedding ring on the ski trails at Piedmont … um … that would be mine. It most likely came off at the overlook when I took my gloves off, but I couldn’t find it on my return visit. I suppose it could be anywhere along the trail or parking lot. Please call the PDD headquarters at 624-6087 if you see it.
Cinnamon Roll is a loving cat
Let me start off by saying that I am already easily amused, and the sleep deprivation is not really helping in that matter.
So, I was reading the DNT’s Pets of the Week article, and found a picture of Cinnamon Roll the cat waiting to be adopted. Most of the time, these pictures are of animals looking super cute begging to be adopted, but Cinnamon Roll’s expression made me laugh. “Adopt me, or don’t. Whatever.”
Being easily amused (refer back to point A), I whipped up some simple edits that made me laugh – maybe they’ll make you laugh too (if not, try sleep deprivation). (more…)
Need Your Help
Someone took this picture of the Evil Queen with Snow White’s heart from the bathroom at Chester Creek Cafe. It was a gift from my brother 25 years ago and had sentimental value. Ok – yes it was dopey of me to have it in there but it was screwed to the wall and I had misplaced faith in humankind. I want it back – a reward is offered. No questions asked. Please help me if you can.
An acceptable alternative?
I was at Cub Foods today and ran across some Flaherty’s Tom & Jerry batter in the freezer section. Is it an acceptable alternative to Connolly’s T&J batter?
Yee-eee-eee-haaaw!
Personally, I find it impossible to drive past a situation like this and not have a Dukes-of-Hazzard fantasy. And it always surprises me that no one goes for it. A trailer positioned like this is clearly a stunt-jumping invitation for any West Duluth dirtbag with a muscle car — and I don’t see how any judge could disagree.
Seen this before?
I was at Mt. Royal Foods this morning surveying the doughnut rack with my daughter and I did a double take when I saw a long-john with a slab of fried bacon laid down the middle, on top of the delicious maple frosting. I did not have my camera to take a picture. Is this a “standard build” in the doughnut industry, or is it a custom creation from the bake staff? My wife gave me strict orders to not buy sweets this morning, otherwise I’d probably be posting this on Yelp.
Something funny happened on the way through the drive-thru
Here’s an actual photo of a letter that someone I work with received this week. She was just going through the drive thru minding her business when the car in front of her paid for her coffee and egg sandwich, anonymously. It definitely brought a smile, which I guess is the whole idea. (more…)

Woot: “Pet Food” by Emily from Duluth
Duluth artist Emily Kuznia has another one of her quirky/cool designs in the Woot Shirt Derby for Oct. 20. That means you can order one of these puppies anytime today and they are only 10 bucks. If enough people order … here’s where I get foggy … Emily will win some kind of awesome prize or accolades. So Nettleton-Central-Hillsiders-Duluthians and anyone else who may have some tie to Emily please take a look and get yourself a shirt. Oh and if you don’t have a tie why not just do it to give a cool young artist a leg up?
Christmas is just around the corner and these will make great stocking stuffers for just ten bucks (free shipping).
Survival of the Funnest is another one of Emily’s Woot Shirt designs that I blogged about last December.
UPDATE: 11/4/11
Here’s another one, she’s on a roll, I guess. “I’m here to the Rescue .. uh … Never Trust a Princess”
Nickels, Dimes and Quarters Parking
After scrambling around through the spare change pockets in my car for quarters, I got to the meters outside the St. Louis County/MN State Office building only to find that I don’t need quarters there anymore! (more…)
