Lost and Found
Found your mini-guitar smashed on the railroad tracks
I found your mini-guitar smashed on the railroad tracks along the St. Louis River at Mud Lake. It had a Perfect Duluth Day sticker on it. Bent Paddle Brewing Company, Earth Rider Beer and the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra were also decorating your little green guitar, along with smiley faces, hearts and what appear to be a set of puckered lips.
Was this a triumphant smashing after a performance for the geese and red-winged blackbirds? Or was the destruction out of frustration or sadness? Did hooligans steal your guitar and leave you wondering until now what became of it?
As a fan of PDD, you are sure to see this post. Or do you just like free stickers?
Missing Dog
Taken from home on Christmas Eve. Brown retriever dog, hollow, filled with lights. Kids were heartbroken that someone unplugged and stole their favorite lawn decoration.
Info on ice photo from north shore
My father-in-law was recently telling me about a photo he saw in the 1970s(?) that someone took of ice along the north shore during a storm.
When the photographer developed the film, one of the ice/water spray images appeared to be an image of Jesus (sort of like the Jesus in the toast thing from some years ago).
Does anyone know of this photo and/or the photographer? Father-in-law would like to track down a copy of the photo if available somewhere.
Found: FitBit on 13th Avenue East leaving Movies in the Park
I found a FitBit on 13th Avenue East on the night of Friday, July 7. I was leaving Movies in the Park at Leif Erikson Park, and since someone had been parked there earlier, I suspect you were as well.
If you think it’s yours, post your email address in the comments here and I’ll send you an email. Tell me about it – model, color, band style, band size, etc. and its yours.
Duluth Technical College baking classes TV commercial
We’ve had bits of luck on Perfect Duluth Day in the past when we’ve put out requests for someone to step forward with video of old Duluth TV commercials. Well, here’s another attempt.
A query in the PDD inbox reads:
I’m searching for an obscure commercial for baking classes that were held at the vo-tech college, old LSC, from the 1980s. We’ve recently had a family member pass away and he was in the commercial as the baker. If you have any ideas of where to get the footage, that would be fantastic. We believe it was on Channel 10, WDIO, with Jack McKenna.
Lake Superior College was known as Duluth Technical College in the 1980s. It merged with the Duluth Community College Center in 1995 to form LSC.
This is soooo Duluth
Sarah Priest lost her winter hat at former Duluth Mayor Don Ness’ farewell event in late 2015 at the DECC. Stacie Spaeth discovered it and wore it in a TV commercial. The rest is history.

Stolen Bike
A white, black and red Lightspeed Mira has been stolen from me. It has a Thompson seat post and a mostly Durace group set. It has egg-beater pedals, a red seat and red bar tape. This bike is seriously my life and my car. Please notify me if you see anything about it at 954-486-2136.
Prince is Missing
A very important puppet that artist Mary Plaster created commemorating Prince at the request of Black Lives Matter in the Minneapolis May Day parade disappeared during Duluth All Souls Night. Please keep an eye out for this guy.
If you have any information about his disappearance please call 218-310-6289 or if you want to return him anonymously you can leave him back at the Duluth Depot, no questions asked.
‘Tis the season for car prowls, theft
There’s an old saying in Duluth that cold weather keeps the riff raff out. Logic follows that summertime is the peak season for car prowls and even the occasional theft. A blue Audi A4 convertible like the one shown above was stolen on the evening of July 31. (Update: Police have recovered it.)
Duluth Police routinely remind citizens to lock their vehicles, remove valuables and report suspicious activity to 911. (more…)
Not So Cool
On Saturday, July 16, our custom-made Cool Stuff Sale signs were stolen from Woodland Avenue and Oxford Street as our nearby garage sale was ending. We would like them back. They are cool signs and do not belong in the possession of un-cool people.
If you see them, please post the location. Beware of doing business with anyone else who is using them … they are dishonest! Thanks.
Found pink Next bike in Cloquet
Found a Next Pretty in Pink girls bike by Aspen Arms Assisted Living. It has to be missed by the kid who lost it or had it stolen. If anyone knows of a child in Cloquet who this bike belongs to please spread the word. I moved the bike onto my property and it will be here safe to be claimed.
Lost cat in Chester Park area
Moses is a white cat with a grey patch on the top of his head. He is missing the tips of his ears.
He was last seen on Oct. 31 in the area of 20th Avenue East and Eighth Street, across from the Central Little League baseball fields. Moses is unfamiliar with this area and is likely hiding under a deck, shed, low-hanging hedge, wood pile or something similar.
If you find Moses, contact the owner at 763-458-3388 or email helpfindmosescat@gmail.com. Do not attempt to catch him. He is shy and terrified of new people.
Reward: $500.
Lost iPhone in Downtown Duluth
I lost an iPhone on First Street Wednesday evening, July 29, following the Superior Siren / Devil’s Flying Machine show at the Red Herring. It has a gray “encase” case.
If found, please email me at grindcadence at gmail dot com. A $50 reward awaits. Thank you.
Lost: Orange Cat in East Hillside
Lost July 21:
Orange/”champagne” Tabby
Female, adult, 10 lbs. (pudgy)
Spayed, micro-chipped
Very timid and skittish around strangers and in unfamiliar places
Sweet, friendly, vocal
She wandered away Tuesday night or Wednesday morning and we haven’t seen her since. It is unlike her to go far from home. She would have been seen near Fourth Street and Eighth Avenue East or in the alley behind.
If seen or found please call 952-807-3882. She is very loved and greatly missed.
Lost cat in Lakeside
Maddie is lost! She’s a 10-year-old shorthair spayed female cat. Maddie is a dominantly white calico cat with a caramel-colored “mustache.” Maddie weighs about 10-11 lbs.
Maddie is an indoor cat who never goes outside. She’s sweet and cuddly when at home, but she’s timid and skittish in strange situations. She’s probably very frightened and hiding in bushes or under a deck/porch. Maddie was last seen on July 18 near 48th Avenue East and Cooke Street in Duluth. (more…)
Lost cat in Miller Hill area
Cat lost early on the morning of June 28 in Duluth at Miller Creek Townhomes on Miller Creek Drive. Name: Snickers, female, spayed, 6 years old, large, fully clawed, no microchip or collar. Short hair, tortoiseshell. Escaped through caretaker’s screen door during pet sitting, so Snickers is unfamiliar with area. Mostly indoor cat, friendly.
Found: Your phone, lighter and two dimes
In general this is a public service announcement: Keep in mind during the winter months that if you reach into your pockets and pull something out from the bottom, everything else is likely to come out with it and land in the snow next to the railroad tracks. You probably won’t even notice.
Well, that’s at least my theory of what happened. If this is your stuff, inquire about it at the West Duluth Police Substation.
Lost Siamese Cat in Lower Chester
We foolishly let the cat outside Saturday morning (Sept. 20) and she took off. Conveniently she is not ours. Her tag says “Rosie” or possibly “Billy” and has an 847 landline phone number which no longer exists … greaaat. She’s white with black paws and a black face, she’s pretty small, we like to say “fun size.” She’s very cherished by my father-in-law and brother-in-law and we need to get her back. Please call me as soon as possible at 575-741-1054 if you have her, or even think you spotted her somewhere, otherwise we are in deep s&%$.
Chocolate Lab mix found in Lakewood
An old, somewhat overweight Chocolate Lab mix adopted us on Thursday, Sept. 3, during the thunderstorms. We call him Grizzly because his fur has a grizzly bear look to it. He has a shock collar on him. It’s red. His other collar is light blue. He has no tags. I’ve checked Animal Allies and the pound for any report of a lost dog matching this description. No luck. If you recognize this description please e-mail me at madewithaview @ gmail.com.
Lost Benchmaker Knife on Superior Hiking Trail
I lost a blue Benchmade pocket knife just off of the parking lot on the Superior Hiking Trail at Penn Boulevard in Silver Bay on Aug. 29. I believe it was on the four-wheeler trail just before hooking up to the hiking trail. Will pay reward and shipping to get it back.
