Lion or Gazelle – “I Might Love You”
I recently printed the new Lion or Gazelle album jackets and put together an animated loop set to the title track for everyone. I also wanted to encourage everyone to attend the Chaperone Records Inaugural Bash/Record Release Party at the Zeitgeist Arts Cafe Friday, Aug. 10, at 7 p.m. In addition to seeing Lion or Gazelle perform live will be a number of other great local musicians. Join us for a bit of fun! More info on Facebook

It’s not a complete list, just what we could easily pull together. If you know of a record we missed, mention it in the comments or email paul @ perfectduluthday.com. (more…)
Duluth Album Releases in 2000
Dial back the sound system one quarter of a century. The year 2000 was of particular significance to the Duluth music scene. It’s possibly the first time more than a dozen local albums were released in a single year. The emergence of a few local music labels is partially the reason, but in general the reduction in the cost to put out compact discs, growth in the number of bands and easier access to recording technology all contributed to the spike in output, which has only accelerated since.
Compiled here is an incomplete list of Duluth-related music releases from 2000. If you spot something that’s missing, feel free to comment here or send an email to paul @ perfectduluthday.com. (more…)

Sarah Krueger – Dancing with Phantoms
Hi Duluth friends. I’m releasing a new album at the end of the month. If you’re interested in listening, pre-ordering, downloading, streaming, sharing, or whatever, visit sarahkruegermusic.com. The official release date is Nov. 25, and the Duluth album-release show is at Teatro Zuccone on Tuesday, Dec. 6, with Coyote! Thanks for listening and supporting local music.
New album from the Surfactants
It’s been a few years, but the Surfactants have finally released their second full-length album Our Dead Bodies. If you don’t know who the Surfactants are, that’s probably for the best.
You can stream it all for free and/or buy it here. It’s $4 or pay-what-you-want. There are also two singles featuring some remixes that are $1 each. There are currently no plans to produce any physical media. (…because CDs are just going to go in the garbage anyway and you can download very high quality files when you purchase them. And besides, if we made a CD and you bought the CD then you’d be paying twice as much for the same music and a bunch of garbage. So really your $4 [or more] is saving you $4 [or more].)
Oh, and there’s also a cover of a Haley Bonar song on the album, and she’s nice.
Listen, download, pirate, burn something (one).
Lions & Creators – “Growing”
Lions&Creators just released their album in Duluth on Saturday and now the whole thing is up to stream on our Bandcamp, which is here. You can buy it there for only $5! (and it comes with a few extra surprises too). Physical copies will be available at The Electric Fetus soon. All hand made, designed by the band.
New Tangier 57 album now available
Our long-awaited Tiki Odyssey is now available in multiple musical formats. 18 tracks of Northwoods Exotica. Download it immediately from Bandcamp, or wait a day or so for a CD. There’s a big box of them driving around Duluth in a UPS truck right now. We should have them tonight.
The Local (5-6 pm Wednesday) on KUMD will be playing some tracks and talking to someone from T57 this week.
