PDD Shop Talk: Failure

Perfect Duluth Day attempted to launch an update to its WordPress theme this week. It failed. So we are continuing with the old theme and attempting to regroup.

Here’s what that means:

• • For three days this week we stopped updating this site for the purpose of transferring data to a new version of the site that we hoped to launch today.
  • This process involved 22 years of blog posts, images, event calendar items and so on. It was an arduous, confusing and mental-health challenging effort that fell short of meeting our standards. So we had to give up and we don’t know what’s next in terms of the long-term plan of how to spiff up this site.
  • In the short term, it’s back to business as usual.
  • The full story of the failed migration is longwinded and techy, so we’ll spare you and ourselves of digging into that … at least for now.
