High School Volleyball Leagues Begin

The summer season of co-ed high school volleyball leagues at Skyline Social & Games runs from early June through mid-August, with games on Sunday nights.

There are more than 600 teams playing weekly during Skyline’s outdoor summer leagues. Weeknight adult league options include volleyball, bocce ball and cornhole.

Summer Camp: DIY Room Décor with Tiffany Fenner

“Campers” can complete a variety of paper mache and clay projects to decorate their space. Projects include clay coaster sets, shelves and oil-diffuser beads. Sessions run June 15-19 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Wild and Free Kids Camp

This forest exploration camp invites children to slow down and reconnect through a blend of Qigong, music therapy, journaling and imaginative play. Surrounded by the magic of the woods, participants build confidence and emotional awareness while forming connections with nature and each other.

The camp is for ages 6-10. Sessions are from 1 to 4 p.m. from June 15-19. The cost is $120 for the weeklong camp. Registration and more information are at svalja.yoga.

Students ages 13–17 are invited to explore their creativity at the Duluth Art Institute’s Lincoln Park Building during spring sessions of Teen Open Studio. Attendees can bring headphones and creative ideas — art supplies are provided, but students can also bring their own.

A $50 registration fee covers all 26 sessions, which run from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from April 2 to June 30. Attending every session is not necessary. Registration is available at duluthart.org.

Whipper Snapper Races for Kids 2026

Whipper Snapper kids’ races are held each year in Duluth’s Bayfront Festival Park on Grandma’s Marathon weekend. These races are free and open to children ages 14 and under. All participants receive a ribbon at the completion of the race.

The free short-distance races are a way to introduce kids to running or keep the fire burning bright for future marathon finishers.

A festival sponsored by the Young Athletes Foundation features activities for the kids, including a bounce house, climbing wall, face painting and balance bikes.

UMD Planetarium Show: Sunstruck

Discover the wonders of the Sun. Its incredible energy has supported life on earth for millennia, but is now threatening human technology and our way of life. Travel to the distant future to discover the Sun’s connection to the universe’s cosmic cycle of life and death.

The June 13 showing at 4 p.m. is a special sensory-friendly edition.

Each show is followed by a live presentation of the night’s sky.

Admission is $8 for adults; $5 for senior citizens ages 60 and up, kids ages 3-12 and University of Minnesota Duluth students; and free for kids age 2 and under. Tickets are available at tickets.umn.edu or at the door. UMD students are required to show their student identification for the discounted admission.

Country Coveralls: A Country Tribute Concert

The second annual Country Coveralls event ushers in summer with a tribute to heroes of folk and country across the ages.

Simon Cropp is performing the music of John Prine and Hank Williams. Between Howls is performing the music of Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris. Creekbed Carter Hogan is performing the music of Roger Miller and Nanci Griffith.

Other festivities include vintage and art vendors, along with food and beverages.

For thousands of years, mankind thought the Earth was the center of the Universe. It is now known that planets like Earth are nothing special in the cosmos. The Sun is just one ordinary star among hundreds of billions in the Milky Way galaxy. With the world’s most powerful telescopes, humans are able to explore more and more of the universe. What has been found so far has surpassed even the wildest expectations of scientists as well as authors of science fiction. Most stars have planets — it turns out they are more common than thought. A huge diversity of different worlds is out there, just waiting to be discovered.

Participants will learn foundational ceramic techniques while developing their own creative style through functional pottery, sculptural work and more detailed clay projects. Students will be encouraged to experiment, problem-solve and build technical skills in a supportive studio setting. Bring clothes that can be messy and a water bottle. All artwork will be glazed and kiln-fired in a food-safe finish.Families will be notified when artwork is ready.This series runs June 22-26, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.

All artwork will be glazed and kiln-fired in a food-safe finish. Finished work will be ready for pickup after kiln firing. Families will be notified when artwork is ready.

The series runs June 22nd-June 26th 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

We Are Happy Dads with The Jolly Pops

The Jolly Pops combine upbeat, original music with popular children’s songs for a concert designed to please kids and adults alike. Take a fun ride with the Happy Dads and their puppet friends as they sing about alligator dancing, popsicles, trains, pet dinosaurs … and everything in between.

This program takes place in the Two Harbors Public Library Meeting Room, is sponsored by Arrowhead Library System, and was funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Pollinator Powerhouse 2026

Carlton Soil and Water Conservation District hosts its seventh annual Pollinator Powerhouse event celebrating National Pollinator Month. The event includes children’s activities, lawn games, pollinator merchandise, food trucks and music. A coloring contest for children 10 and under offers prizes. Local vendors are available to peruse and Carlton SWCD hosts Conservation Talks on local natural resource conservation objectives and opportunities for landowners to access technical and financial conservation support.

The event serves as the location for the Carlton SWCD Native Plant and Seed Mix Sale order pick up. The last day to order plant kits and seed in this sale is June 14.

Our solar system has more than 150 moons. Hop in the MWAP spaceship to explore some of the most interesting moons our solar system has to offer. There’s a moon full of volcanoes, another with a giant ocean, and more.

Park Point Art Fair 2026

The 54th annual Park Point Art Fair is an outdoor visual arts showcase featuring more than 100 juried artists working in clay, photography, painting, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, fiber, jewelry, wood and glass. Held at the Park Point Recreation Area, rain or shine, the event offers the chance to meet the juried artists showing and selling fine art and craft, while enjoying live music, food venders and more.

The event is presented by the Park Point Community Club. Proceeds support youth, environmental and civic projects in the community. Admission and parking are free.

Bong Airport Open House 2026

The Lake Superior Squadron and the Blue Water Big Band present a day of food, flying and fun at the Bong Airport in Superior. Rides are available for purchase from Superior Flying Services and on the Commemorative Air Forces Minnesota Wing’s BT-13.
