The Slice: Superior Street Reconstruction Phase II
In this video, City of Duluth Senior Engineer Duncan Schwensohn talks about the reconstruction of East Superior Street, including a brief mention of the basement extensions of some buildings, which run under the sidewalks.

Video: Duluth Great Horned Owl Twins
Duluth birder Richard Hoeg captured this video of twin great horned owls in the Lester Park area. On his 365 Days of Birds blog, Hoeg named the parent owls Les and Amy, after Lester River and Amity Creek. Hoeg wrote that the happy owl couple started dating last fall and would often sing back and forth, sometimes in his yard. “Over the course of the winter the relationship grew stronger,” according to Hoeg, “and the couple cemented the bond in early March!”

John B. Herrington, the first member of a federally recognized tribe – Chickasaw – to travel to space, was in the Twin Ports last month as part of the UW-Superior Distinguished Diversity Lecture and Art Series. In this clip he talks about his work on the International Space Station.

The Symptones – “Rosetta”
The Symptones, a five-piece rock, soul, punk and folk-influenced band from Minneapolis, was in Duluth for a pair of gigs last month. The group’s first video, directed by Steven George, features some Duluthy scenes.
The song “Rosetta” is from the band’s upcoming album Irrational Fears / Overactive Imagination, due out April 26.
Gaelynn Lea – “Breathe, You are Alive!”
This is the official music video for Gaelynn Lea‘s original poem, “Breathe, You are Alive!” from her 2016 EP The Songs We Sing Along the Way. The video was shot in 2018 and was released earlier this week.
