This Is How Dave Found His Voice
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDdXzgcKb80
I think you might like this documentary for a number of reasons:
1) It’s really good.
2) It’s super pretty.
3) It’s way more interesting to hear a swell guy like Dave tell you his story than it is to learn about teen depression on Wikipedia. (But if you do happen to learn a few things about depression, and you want to do something about that, please visit givevoicenow.com and donate a couple of bucks to help the Miller-Dwan Foundation build Amberwing, a mental health facility for kids, teens and young adults here in Duluth.)

Thumbs Up for Rock and Roll!
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaIvk1cSyG8
Shot in Bemidji. Starring Owen Kosevich after his first bike ride, with his father Nick behind the camera.
“I feel happy of myself!” Owen says. “Everybody, I know you can believe in yourself. If you believe in yourself, you will know how to ride a bike! If you don’t you just keep practicing. You will get the hang of it. If you keep practicing you will get the hang of it and then you can get better and better at it as you do it. Thumbs up, everybody, for rock and roll!”

F*** You, Philip Morris
I just watched this powerful video about a Duluth woman still reeling 10 years on from the death of her young mother to lung cancer. The video was a project created by our friend Amy Berg Louhela for her MFA in photography. Duluthophiles will recognize some of the scenery and maybe even some of the faces. The music is … perfect. I hope they don’t disable the track, but they might, so better listen in now while you can.
Amy is collecting comments for her project so here’s a direct link you can use if you wish to help her that way.
Porcupine Feasting at Jay Cooke State Park
This video was shot by Mark “Sparky” Stensaas on May 3 for his blog, the Photonaturalist. Local porcupines have moved out of places like the West Duluth Porcupine Hotel and are giving up their diet of tree bark in favor of the more scrumptious catkins of Pussy Willows. Sparky’s specific post on this is called “Porcupine Spring Snack.”
Br’er Wolf – “Song 3”

Also Friday, June 10 at Beaner’s Central in West Duluth with Loup-Garou and the Good Colonels (music video showing). Both shows are at 9 p.m.

Homegrown Music Video Encore
For those of you who missed the LSD-tripping fabulousness of the Homegrown Music Video festival, don’t go cry in your pillow, come to Zinema 2 on Wednesday at 10pm for an encore performance.
Also, if you are a filmmaker, think about putting your film on the internets. It’s what all the kids are doing these days and then we can compile them on this here blog site for those that couldn’t get off the beer stool for either screening.
