Music Resource Center students produce music videos

MRC students produced two videos this spring with help from the UMD Participatory Media Lab. Hannah McDaniel, a senior at Harbor City International School, recorded, filmed and produced this video for her song “Welcome Guest.”

The MRC kicked off a month-long fundraiser last night at our HGMF MRC Showcase. The goal is lofty: $10, 000 for new instruments and recording equipment. Please consider donating to this incredible program here.

The Music Resource Center, Duluth is a program of the Armory Arts and Music Center.

“The Main” Trailer

In 1982 Bob Jansen was fired from his job as a college professor for being gay. After suing the institution that fired him, he took his settlement money to open the first openly gay bar in the Duluth/Superior region: The Main Club. The Main follows Jansen’s history and the history of the bar while exploring social trends that may threaten the continued existence of historically significant queer spaces like the Main Club.

Directed by Julie Casper Roth.

Twin Ports Bridge Festival Pre-Sale for Accessibility

httpv://youtu.be/4OwfrgMrDf0

The Twin Ports Bridge Festival is hoping to meet a goal of selling 2,000 tickets at a reduced rate by May 31 to allow free access to area organizations and their constituents who could benefit from the inspiring messages and events at the festival, but would otherwise not be able to attend. These groups may include, but certainly won’t be limited to, those that help folks with mental illness, disabilities, and/or underserved youth. With this year’s date only two days after Independence Day, we are also hoping to be able to allow free access to all veterans.
