Lost Cat in Midway Township on Old Highway 61 and Maplehill Road

She is a 1-year-old female Black Cat with while boots and stomach. Her name is Beebee. She was last seen Saturday night around 11 p.m. Got out of the house through an open garage door. She is not an outside cat and way too trusting. Very affectionate … she was a bottle bay rescue. She is micro chipped. She will come to you if you call her. If you see her or find her please call 349-9109 or 349-3481.

Drones?

Did anyone see the “drone-like” plane fly over Bayfront Park on Saturday during the Harvest Festival? The same thing flew over the July 4th Parade in Superior.  Any idea what it is?

Lost tropical bird

I can see what looks like a cockatiel (although I am not good about knowing bird types) flying through my neighborhood, Chester Park, by Sara’s Table. It’s been flying between 9th and 10th streets, the 1800 block. It’s been sitting in the tall fir trees in the neighborhood.  If you know someone who has lost a bird, please let them know. It seems to be calling out, and it’s pretty loud, but will calm down if talked to.  It will not come to me, though.

Where in Duluth?

Where in Duluth?

This is kind of a follow up to the cherry red Help Phone.

What’s a geek to do in town?

I’m going to be moving to Duluth in the next couple months and was wondering what kind of nerdy stuff is around town.

What’s the best computer store in town for components? Somewhere where they’ll know what a GTX680 is. Are there any hacker/maker clubs? I’m also interested in volunteering; does anyone know of a computer refurbishing program? Are there any local tech websites or handouts?

I know there are more nerds like me; what are you up to?

Rocket, man.

So if anyone in the Chester Creek Cafe neighborhood finds a model rocket in their tree / backyard / roof, I know who it belongs to. Orange parachute, dark rocket with Ryan T written on it. Launched from the baseball fields, ended up somewhere S SW of there tonight. Thanks.

Thanks Duluth School Board

I just found out that 3 out of the 4 professionals that have helped my autistic child so much last year have been released. I don’t know how we are going to cope.

I hope everyone enjoys the new buildings; they cost more than you can imagine.

  • 72 percent rated Duluth’s image or reputation as “excellent” or “good.”

Bring back bricks!

I know the city has a lot on its hands right now, but this decision was made pre-flood. Maybe a fraction of a percent of rebuilding money can go toward buying a couple of bricks, because this looks awful.

For the love of music

I understand the novelty of closing a street and having live music. I applaud the city and the organizers for putting such shindigs together. However, I think that the person who decided that it is a good idea to close Superior Street downtown and in front of Fitger’s, at the same time, on a weekday, during rush hour, is a complete idiot and should be fired.

This isn’t the first time they have done that, but apparently “the decider” comes nowhere near the area during the closures, or he/she would see the traffic chaos and downright anger created by doing so.

Am I completely wrong on this, or do most people think it is acceptable to gridlock a major traffic flow for the sake of novelty? I know I could “lighten up,” and I would if I knew it was an oversight or mistake by the organizer, but really? Did ya’ not think of that?

Lost Maltese Dog in Lakeside

Her name is Cally. She has short white hair. Wearing a purple collar with a rabies tag from Douherty Vet, and a tan flea/tick collar. Please call 218-213-3149 or 218-348-1185 with any information. There is a reward.

DNT online content roadblock

I pay full price for a print edition subscription of the Duluth News Tribune for my Mother, who is in a nursing home. I however, read what content I can online. Recently, I have been blocked from doing so by a message asking me to register for free access. I jumped through the hoops to do so and was instructed that an e-mail message would follow that would allow me to finish the process. Well, I never got an e-mail and I continue to be blocked from reading online content. Has anyone else run into this dilemma and does anyone have any suggestions on how to get around it? User friendly? Not so much.

My Crackberry cracked up!

So, Research in Motion is in all likelihood on its way out in the near future. This bodes ill for me as I’m the proud(?) owner of a 9330.

In reality, I love my BlackBerry. It’s tough and reliable … although it’s difficult to get workable apps these days.

That said, my phone did take a damaging fall (down, but not out) which killed the LCD. I’ve got a white screen after boot up which didn’t change after several attempts and “tricks” in an attempt to correct the situation. (Battery removal, MicroSD card removal, etc.) I know it’s not the op system, as the phone still works.

Guy Challenge

I was at the DQ in Superior the other day. I think maybe the men’s room is designed for aliens. Anyway, next time you’re there see if you can reach the TP dispenser while sitting on the throne.

Hang gliding in Duluth

Have you ever seen someone hang glide in Duluth?

I think I did once, but it might just be a weird dream I had back when I was kid. What I remember is that I was at the Little League baseball end-of-season carnival/Olympics, or whatever it was, at Wheeler Fields. It would have been about 1984. I think I saw some guy launch off the hillside where “The Wall” is on Skyline Drive, and then land on one of the baseball fields at Wheeler.

Is hang gliding just a dying sport in general, or is there something about Duluth — maybe the lake winds are too unpredictable and strong or the hills aren’t high enough to produce a good “ridge lift” or whatever — that makes hang gliding here rare or impossible?

And whatever happened to the guy with the hot-air balloon?

Barn yard animals run amuck!

Hey folks. I was wandering around the ravaged countryside and found this delightful critter. If you know where it is, it has a secret, though you’ll have to sneak up close to find out. That is, only if you can catch it. Can you guess where?

Lost in Lester! Black Mountain Hardware jacket with sunglasses in the breast pocket

Help me lower my record of losing 2 pairs of aviators and 2 Mountain Hardware jackets to only 1 pair of aviators and 1 Mountain Hardware jacket!

My wife and I were helping out with the Congdon Park Cougar Chase at Lester Park earlier this month and I seem to have hung my jacket on a tree, with my sunglasses in the breast pocket so I couldn’t lose them.  Oops.  It was a black mens Mountain Hardware softshell, medium or large, I honestly can’t remember and a pair of gold legit ’80s Ray-Bans.

We were at one of the trail-heads on Seven Bridges Rd If it helps.

Thanks all. My fault, I’m dumb, but I miss my jackets and glasses

Duluth Gas Prices

So what is up with the price of gas in Duluth? ($3.75 this a.m. @ BP and Spur)…yeah, yeah I know we’re a tourist town and Grandma’s Marathon just packed their bags and left but seriously, the national average is $3.53 and Sam’s Club has gas this morning at $3.47 (for those so inclined). Talk about getting hosed.

Found Dog

Female black lab found on Lavaque Rd on 6/17. If you’re looking for her, reply in the comments.

Do you know these people?

From Craigslist today: (https://duluth.craigslist.org/for/3068327775.html)

Found 1GB memory card in a purse from Goodwill. Do you know these people? I thought that they might want their pictures back.

Lost Shelti Collie in West Duluth

Lost our Sheltie Collie around Denfeld area Sunday around noon. Her name is Ella. She is wearing a pink collar with tags and is microchipped. She is very timid and shy. Please call 590-6894. I will post picture when I figure out how to.

Duluth changes school hours

Why oh why are they changing the elementary school start time to 7:45? I have a son in the autistic spectrum, and getting him to class by this years start time of 9:15 has a challenge!

They now dismiss at 2:15! Great news for us working parents out there. I just got my work schedule to work with the “old” hours and now I have to change everything once again.

I am rapidly losing confidence in the Duluth School Board. Red plans, selling buildings for $1, then raising taxes, and now this.
