Terrible Duluth Public Schools Wikipedia
I am not a Wiki person but I am just putting this out there to those of you who are: check out the Duluth Public Schools Wikipedia Page. Not only is it outdated and lacks proofreading it is quite salacious and suggests “controversity” (sic) without evidence to support those claims. I don’t have the knowledge to update the page but would like to see something better out there!

Do you have strong opinions about food?
The Duluth Urban Acres Coalition is studying how Duluthians access food and interact with the local food system. We’ve developed a brief survey that helps us get a sense of how people get food, what barriers (if any) they face when it comes to getting enough healthy food, and how they participate in the local food system. We’d love your input, so please go to the following link and tell us what you think!
Annual Requests: Mountain Dew Throwback and Paczki in Duluth
Fat Tuesday is coming … and yesterday, at Mt. Royal, I found my annual fave, Mountain Dew Throwback.
So, where have you seen the made-with-sugar, not-corn-syrup delight called “Mountain Dew Throwback?” And what other sugar-soda delights are available in Duluth? Last year, I discovered the Mexican Coke at Cub via this thread. I’m open to other, maybe even local? sodas.
And: last year, I discovered that not all Super Ones are the same. The Paczki delights vary from location to location. Last year, the Lakeside Super One was awesomest — best in taste and appearance. But where will I find them this year?

On Dogs Saving Lives
After reading the Iditarod racer profiles today and watching four-time champion Lance Mackey moved to tears about a dog who once saved his life, I asked a friend if any cat ever saved anyone?
Credit was given for ridding mice and disease, lowering blood pressure, etc. Then she told me an odd family history story. (more…)
Hey! Where’d you get that rock necklace?
My talented friend, Gail Blum, makes beach stone necklaces and now has a website where you can get one, too. Free domestic shipping!
Duluth Media Boners
While I was really rooting for the “Paste Headline Here” whoopsie by the DNT, I think the Transistor gets the gold cup for its summary of today’s Polar Plunge.
That day to celebrate presidents
I’ve seen President’s Day, Presidents’ Day, and Presidents Day. (watch the ads on TV or in print) Which is it? I’m with the plural possessive, since we celebrate Lincoln and Washington specifically. Or do we celebrate all presidents? Then it should be like Veterans Day. Chime in.
Lost Dog in Canal Park
Black and white female Springer Spaniel lost yesterday in Canal Park. Contact 715-798-2478 if you have any info on the whereabouts. There is no collar on the dog. A reward is being offered. Thanks!
Banner questions
Three questions about banner photos:
1) This may have been covered before, but do those come up randomly or in some sequence?
2) How can there be no comments on any of the banners on the Flickr site? It’s odd to me that photographers haven’t typed in more info on what’s going on in the picture.
3) Why is the little girl in the cat make-up so sad?

When oven coils ignite …
So, when your oven makes a weird sound and you look inside to find a little flame coming from a hole in the coil, does that mean you should call a repairman or plan on replacing the whole unit?
Anyone qualified to help me mentally prepare for how big of a hit the ol’ credit card is going to take when Daugherty’s opens on Monday, chime in .
Canal Park Adventure Zone

Stopped down at the Canal Park Adventure Zone today with Mrs. Goose and the Goslings. Had to be dragged there is a little more like it. My wife got some free passes to the Laser Tag so I couldn’t very well say “no,” could I? So we went. (more…)
Ball to the Wall
A friend is conducting his motorbike from Minnesota to the South Pole. After painstaking deliberation, I decided for the sake of education, as he is an educator of troubled youth, that he wouldn’t mind if you guys snuck a peak.
