Homegrown Wizard
Last night Old Knifey, Walt Dizzo, and I won the Homegrown Quiz at Carmody. The prize? This wizard.
The wizard (who needs a name) spent the afternoon in the Mayor’s office reviewing the Homegrown Guide (and the City budget). He’s now ready for the complete Homegrown experience, he’ll need hosts to bring him around to various shows. If you see him around, feel free to take him elsewhere. Post your pictures of the wizard to the flicker account.
2010 Homegrown Tags (UPDATED)

Once again, Homegrown has begun, and once again, all you numbskulls will be out there flashing your fancy digicams and/or tapping at your mobile devices, cataloging all the craziness as it happens. And as always, it’s important to properly tag your stuff so that everyone else knows that it exists.
Keeping with the tradition of years past, let’s all use the following tags:
Homegrown Twitter hashtag: #HG10 #HGMF10
Homegrown Flickr tag: homegrownmusicfestival2010
I would also recommend tagging your Flickr photos with HG10 since it’s easy to do and it doesn’t hurt to apply an additional layer of taggish re-enforcement.
I’ll post here again tomorrow with the ever-growing Flickr slideshow of everyone’s shots. Here are links to slideshows from previous years, to get you excited: 2006 | 2007 | 2008 | 2009

‘Ello What’s This?
The cream is here, the cream is here! At the Coop next to the whipping creams. Man it would go good with a big bowl of Google Fiber.
Duluth’s Oneota Football Squad – 1915
I’m not sure if these are junior high students from Oneota School or if they are high school kids and this is a community team for the Oneota neighborhood (part of West Duluth). Denfeld didn’t have an official football team until 1917.
I don’t know the names of any of the players, except the guy sitting cross-legged in the middle — he’s my great uncle, Sam Brassard. (Yep, Uncle Sam.)

Bird or Buoy?
So, we were at Park Point on Sunday. It was pretty far away and after a 45 minute walk on the sand we finally realized what it was. Can you tell?

Daily Duluth Photo vs. Duluth Daily Photo
It struck me as a little odd a few days ago when a post on PDD announced the creation of Daily Duluth Photo. “Hasn’t that been around for a while?” I thought to myself.
Now the situation has been cleared up in the comments to that post. The previously existing site I was thinking of is Duluth Daily Photo, not Daily Duluth Photo.
Goodness gracious. I don’t think I can handle two photos a day.
Daily Duluth Photo
A new photo-a-day website has been launched, showcasing images from Duluth, MN. All images are submitted by people who visit the site.
Basically, by using the entry form, you are put into a pool for the current month. Your image may or may not be picked as the Photo of the Day for any given day of the month in which you submitted.

Tweedy with ‘teenaged boy who claims he’s the mayor’
Thanks PDD for the help with the proclamation. Wilco was very gracious about it and accepted it in good humor. I half expected that it would be handed off to a roadie for disposal. Not only did Jeff take it on stage, it then played a prominent role in the show. That was amazing. I’m also glad everyone got a good laugh at my expense – it’ll take me a while to live that one down. Fortunately, I have a pretty good start on grey hairs and a beer belly – and with the stress of the job, I’ll have that ‘teenaged boy’ label taken care of in no time.
