Another Side of Duluth Does Dylan

The third Duluth Does Dylan album will be released on Friday, May 27. The release party is at Rex Bar.

All profit from Friday’s door at the Rex will be donated to the Norshor Theatre renovation, and CD profits will go to the Bob Dylan Way Cultural Pathway effort. Show tickets are available at the Electric Fetus and the Fitger’s Beer Store — $8 in advance, $10 at the door.

Opening Night of Reasons to be Pretty

Opening night of Reasons to Be Pretty is Thursday, June 2, at 8pm. Stick around after the show for the after party in the Zeitgeist lobby featuring food from the Zeitgeist Cafe and music by Mae Martin. Then, stick around for a free Long Form Improv set from the newly formed Long Form Team of Renegade Improv.

And if all that wasn’t enough, opening night is pay what you can! Only have $1? That’s fine! Feel like the show is worth $100? We will totally accept!

Haley Bonar – WOJB Concert Series at the Park Theater

Sublimely-talented Haley Bonar and her awesome band will be performing Friday, June 3 for the WOJB Concert Series at the Park Theater, 15791 U.S. HWY 63 in Hayward.

She’s about to head out on a nationwide tour starting mid-June with Andrew Bird and Gary Louris (The Jayhawks), so this is your best chance, Duluthians, to catch her live onstage. Hayward’s only about an hour-and-a-half south of you all. Don’t miss it!

Birthday Suits and the Low Forms at Lake Avenue Cafe

Birthday Suits are a killer two-piece punk band from the Twin Cities, taking a break from their busy touring schedule to come up north for an exciting evening this Friday at Lake Avenue Cafe. The Low Forms, an up-and-coming Duluth rock group, will open the show. This will be a good one for sure.

Sound Unseen International Duluth is proud to announce its second annual International Film, Music and Art Festival, presented by Maurices, from June 8-12 in Duluth. Unlike our festival in the Twin Cities, the Duluth festival allows us to expand our programming beyond “films-on-music” (although still included via our In Competition music films) and brings world-class cinema, art and music to the Twin Ports area.

2011 Americorps Party for Good with Charlie Parr

Clyde Iron is teaming up with local musicians to honor the hard work of Americorps members here in Duluth. The party is open to the public and will take place at Clyde Iron Works on Thursday, May 12 from 6-11pm.

Schedule of Events:
6pm – On-site service projects, collect 200 lbs of food for local shelves
7pm – Galynn Lea & Ariane Marene; David Bard & Ryan Jordan; Angela Brannan; Billy Wagness in The Horror
9pm – Charlie Parr

At 7:00pm this becomes an 18+ event. ID and cash necessary for bar. This is a community event. Current AmeriCorps members automatically get a ticket but here are the ways non-members may get into the event:

Duluth Battle of the Bands 2011!

The Junior Achievement Battle of the Bands competition was held a few weeks back, and although I’ve been busy with other projects, I wanted to share this video I created of the event. The song is “Stay Put or Carry On” by Ultra Day, who won the competition this year.
