This is new classical chamber music featuring a real PDD’er!
The concert features the music of 4 umd alumni composers: Robert Linnemann, Ryan Rapsys, Nick Mroczek and James Gould. All of the pieces are lyrical, varied and entertaining. Every composition is a world debut! The Gichigami Piano Trio is the featured group, but the umd woodwind quintet and other small ensembles will also play.

Pineapple Art and Supply Center
A group of local artists opened Pineapple Art and Supply Center last month. They bought the inventory from Bohemia Arts, which is out of business.
The new store is at 124 W. First St. in Downtown Duluth. The grand opening is Saturday, March 20, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Colder gets older
Colder by the Lake‘s “Older by the Lake,” a comedy about aging, opens this Thursday night at Teatro Zuccone.
In the pic: Cathy Podeszwa, John Schmidt, Christa Schulz, Jack Setterlund and Gary Kruchowski. They guarantee the show will be “more fun than a barrel of reading glasses.”
This post is being published early on Sunday morning for a reason. The first person to write a comment on this wins two tickets to the opening night show (Thursday, March 11, 7:30 p.m.). It’s a reward for being up early on a Sunday and reading about oldness.

Renegade Free Improv Weekend
Renegade Theater Company is proud to announce a free improv weekend on Friday, March 12 and Saturday, March 13. Tickets are on a first-come, first-served basis, and you must be present to claim your ticket. Tickets will be available beginning at 9:30 p.m on both nights. The improv performances are at 10:30 p.m on both Friday and Saturday at the Teatro Zuccone in downtown Duluth.

“Theives Like Us” – Duluth screenings

“Thieves Like Us” is a feature-length action comedy (Jackie Chan style) made for about $3,200. There are two screenings at the Duluth Playground — March 5 and 6 at 7:30 pm.
The screenings will be followed by a Q&A with the director, Jarrod Crooks, and actor/producer Daniel Quaile of St. Paul-based Film Under 5, a production company with the goal of showing “that if you get creative, write a good story, and work your butt off, you can make a feature film for under $5,000.”

Treasures of the Earth Green Art Fair – March 27
Early notice about a neat marketplace that will be setup with over 25 local artists selling their creations made out of natural materials or recycled materials. Also, Peace Puppets will share enviro tips and tunes.
The event will be held at the Unitarian Church, 835 W. College St. on the last Saturday of March, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The fair is coordinated by wendyupnorth.com. Check the website for other fairs including Dulcimer Day in Duluth folk music festival May 1 – the Spirit of Music, and Woman-Made: Marvelous Things made by Northland Women – July 24 at the College of St. Scholastica.
Woman-Made is now open to local female artists. Please inquire. The jewelry and pottery categories are filled.
