From the Dizzo Archives: Last Place on Earth
Aside from being an occasional radio show host, I’ve always fancied myself a bit of an archivist. Some will say hoarder, but I’ll keep saying archivist. I attended the Last Place on Earth auction in Superior last weekend hoping to find some local treasures. I’m mostly a music and clothes collector so I was excited to see there was plenty of both. Duluth Concert Archive: Blue Oyster Cult in 1977

From the archives. Were you in attendance? Also, does anyone know where/what Samahdi Sound was in Ashland?
The Duluth Local Show on Local Current
I’m happy to say that I’ve been given the chance to share some Duluth music with a much wider audience than can hear my current radio program on KUWS. (And by “Duluth music” I mean everything from the Iron Range to the South Shore.)
The show will air on the Local Current stream on Wednesdays (starting tomorrow, March 27) at noon and will be rebroadcast on Thursdays at 11 p.m. and Saturdays at 6 p.m.
In order to put on the best local show I can – I’m gonna need your music if you’re in a band. We’ve got some 180+ acts playing Homegrown this year alone and I can tell you that I don’t have recordings from more than half of them. This is a call to bands from the region to send me your CDs/vinyls and/or high-quality digital downloads for me to potentially play on the Duluth Local Show.

Win John Mark Nelson stuff
The brilliant John Mark Nelson has been in high rotation on the Dean’s List on KUWS! Mr. Nelson wanted to share his thanks by giving a lucky listener a chance to win a copy of his album, t-shirt, and some stickers. You should like The Dean’s List’s Facebook Page and comment on the John Mark Nelson post for your chance to win! A winner will be selected at random on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m.
David Bazan live from Sacred Heart
David Bazan and Andy Fitts recently came to Duluth to do two living-room shows in Duluth. I was thrilled at the opportunity to get him to come to Sacred Heart and record some songs and be a part of a Lakefront Videos project. I think it turned out super sweet.
