Superior Public Library is the place to learn about how to assist an orphaned or injured wild animal, individual Homegrown Festival journeys are documented in a photography show at the Red Herring, Duluth mayor Emily Larson and councilman Gary Anderson hold the latest in their series of community listening sessions, the John Frankenheimer classic The Manchurian Candidate screens in an all-new 4K restoration at the Zinema, it’s Adult Night at World of Wheels Skate Center and Randy and Mr. Lahey of the cult television comedy Trailer Park Boys bring their greasy hijinks to Clyde Iron.
The Duluth Junk Hunt showcases all things antique, vintage and repurposed, the cartooning of Chris Monroe comes to life at the Duluth Playhouse Children’s Theater, Bent Paddle Brewing Co. celebrates three years in operation with lotsa bands and lotsa food, kids can learn the ins and outs of Ultimate Frisbee at the Duluth Heritage Sports Center, it’s time for the costumes and puppets of the annual smelt parade and the roaring of the engines has once again commenced in Proctor.

Big changes are afoot at Perfect Duluth Day. It’s the final week of the PDD Calendar‘s current look. Starting Sunday, April 17th, we switch over to our new WordPress platform, which will make adding and viewing events easier and more pleasurable for all. For now, though, get your last gander at the soon-to-be-old-school calendar before it’s scuttled, and check out these upcoming events:
Empty Bowl 2016 is upon us, Big Science warms up for Homegrown with a feast of noise at the Red Herring, Renegade Improv brings the funny to raise money to fight Alzheimer’s, Marshall Performing Arts Center is the place to see the rock musical Spring Awakening, the Duluth Art Institute opens two sports-themed exhibitions and the rocking 60’s get sudsy at UW-Superior.
St. Scholastica Theatre presents the stalking-themed Boy Gets Girl, the Cabin Fever Festival brings a weekend of old-time music to town, the Duluth East robotics team is raising money, the 27th annual Fitger’s 5k Run and Walk takes place on Saturday, over 100 different beers from over 25 brewers can be sampled at the Gitchee Gumee Brewfest and guitarist Christoph Bruhn plays the Teatro Zuccone.

It’s Thanksgiving week, so of course there’s a lot of turkey business going on in addition to the usual tomfoolery. Minnesota Congressman Rick Nolan comes to town on Monday for a forum, tap dancers, mayors and musicians come together in what’s being called a “lavish feast of local talent,” a locally-made Christmas coffee-table book is released, a man who spent two decades in prison speaks and comedian Josh Blue performs in Canal Park.
The Twin Ports Thanksgiving Buffet takes place, there’s a Thanksgiving Day Walk/Run in Lake Nebagamon, self-guided Christmas tours get underway at Glensheen Mansion, there’s a Funked-Up Dance Party at R.T.
