Duluth Dukes 1955 Program Cover

Duluth Dukes’ pitchers gave up five home runs in a 12-8 loss to the St. Cloud Rox on July 22, 1955 — 70 years ago today. The program above has that particular date penned on its cover, along with the word “vacation.”

The 1955 season was the team’s last as simply the “Duluth Dukes.” The Dukes merged with the Superior Blues the following season to form the Duluth-Superior White Sox, affiliated with the Chicago White Sox. In 1959 the team would again become the “Dukes,” but from then forward would be the Duluth-Superior Dukes.

The Duluth-Superior Dukes folded in 1970, but returned for another run from 1993 to 2002, after which the team moved to Kansas City and was renamed the T-Bones.
