Postcard from St. Mary’s Hospital
This postcard, published by the Rotograph Company of New York City and printed in Germany, shows St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth. The card has no postmark, but Rotograph’s postcard operation ran from 1904 to 1911.
The St. Mary’s building at 404 E. Third St. opened in 1898 and was demolished in 1967.
The postcard was intended for Mr. Keith McGuin at North Dakota Agricultural College in Fargo. The sender looks to be either Roy or Roger C., who gives a Fargo address that looks like “114 9th St. No.” and notes the card was written “Tues Eve” at 7:30 p.m.
The message reads:
There is a case on at the Federal Court — an N. P. Ry vs. an employee, and I’m bound for there during the morning. I want to get familiar with some of the details which may mean $ to your Uncle Hearey. I’ll phone you about it soon.
