From the multitude of videos posted to PDD, here’s the annual handpicked collection that stood out in 2025.
 


Boxcar – “Here I Am”
Shot in the back alleys and underground of Downtown Duluth, the third music video from Boxcar’s 2024 album For Madmen Only is directed by Lance Lindahl and edited by Adam Jones, with photography directed by Austin Hilgenberg. Originally posted Jan. 7.
 


Fat Earth – “4th Line Kind of Guy”
There’s nothing more Minnesotan than a hockey-themed music video for a band’s debut release. Other than maybe opening with a scene shot at Sammy’s Pizza. Duluth band Fat Earth chose Northwoods Arena in Cloquet as the location for the ol’ dropping of the mitts. Originally posted March 6.
 


Ice Skating Trail on Gunflint Lake
This video by Matthew Baxley documents the large ice skating trail plowed by Gunflint Lodge owner John Fredrikson on Gunflint Lake. Originally posted March 6.
 


Alan Sparhawk – “Stranger”
Dashboard cup holders were never cleaner in Duluth than in 2025. The video from the first single off of Alan Sparhawk’s album With Trampled by Turtles has the venerable singer dropping wisdom bombs from start to finish. Originally posted March 18.
 


Beautiful Day for a Bike Ride on a 1000 Footer
A drone, a bike and a 1000-foot ore boat were in Silver Bay one sunny March day. Originally posted April 11.
 


Pronoya – “All for the Sun / Eclipse”
Pronoya released the seven-song EP All for the Sun in 2025. The music video for the opening tracks — “All for the Sun” and “Eclipse” — was produced by Infinite Film Productions and features actor Joseph Langan. Originally posted May 2.
 


EmbalmingEva – “Cement”
Shot by, directed by and featuring Jesse Hatten and Galalee Wright, the duo who make up Embalming Eva. Originally posted May 6.
 


Alan Sparhawk – “Not Broken”
Another from Alan Sparhawk with Trampled by Turtles, featuring Alan’s daughter Hollis Sparhawk on vocals. Originally posted May 12.
 


Minnesota Historia: Top 10 Voyageur Statues
The fourth season of PBS North’s Minnesota Historia launched with a countdown of the best voyageur statues in northern Minnesota, with tidbits on why the state is so fascinated by these colorful figures who worked as the long-haul truckers of the fur trade. Originally posted June 10.
 


Torment – “I Am the Problem”
Death-core band Torment released an EP at the start of 2025 and the music video for the track “I Am the Problem” features scenes from Amsoil Arena captured during the band’s performance at the Homegrown Music Festival. It was shot an edited by Lane Peterson. Originally posted July 31.

Wild Horses – “When I Was Younger”
Cooper Baumgartner directed this music video for Grand Rapids-based Americana band Wild Horses. Originally posted Sept. 24.
 


A Special Log in the Middle of a Remote Boreal Forest
Sniff it, peck at it, pee on it, rub yourself all over it. There’s a log in Voyageurs National Park worthy of every animal’s obsession. Originally posted Oct. 31.
 


Breanne Marie & the Front Porch Sinners – “Shelf”
Breanne Marie Tepler and her daughter Anya Tepler share the director role in the video for “Shelf,” a song from the new Breanne Marie & the Front Porch Sinners album Two Trees. Originally posted Nov. 14.
 


Toby Thomas Churchill – “You”
Toby Thomas Churchill has been turning out the hits in Duluth for more than 25 years. His new album, Nighttime, was released in November. “You” is the first single. Originally posted Nov. 26.
