Look what I found!!

Yes, friends, (perhaps I’m the last to know, but) they’re here. Are other people seeing these nasties? I saw this one downtown last week. Are there other sightings? This could be fun! Who wants to plot the push-pin map? Tent caterpillar hotdish recipes??

I heard that this isn’t “the year.” There is a hatch of them this year and I have seen a few but only few and and fair between.

Heard they’re bustin’ loose pretty good just out of Grand Marnier. Looks like an old Honda or something Brautigan?

I saw several on Park Point this last weekend. One kid wanted to take one home as a pet.

Ohhhhhh…. It’s been so long since I’ve seen one that I didn’t recognize the caterpillar our daughter found in the backyard as an army worm. I freaked out thinking it was a gypsy moth caterpillar, ho ho.

I’ve been seeing them all over for the last 3 weeks- St Croix State Park, Gooseberry, lots of trails around Duluth. Found one hitchhiking on my pants. Fun!

My mother is experiencing a terrible outbreak at her lake home near Fergus Falls. Dropping off the trees, webs everywhere…nasty. Last week my wife and I observed a mini-outbreak on one branch of an aspen tree in Chester Bowl, black and clotted with writhing young caterpillars. We kept an eye on it for several days and the invasion did not spread beyond this single, tiny beachhead. Still, harbingers of things to come, I fear.

Anyone know where I can buy a military-grade flamethrower?

EvilResident: They are had to find, they pop up occasionally though! Need to get in with a broker who deals in automatic/historical weapons. Personally, I would get a freeze gun ala Mr. Freeze in Batman.

Yes, we found one at Morley Park last week. The kids had fun holding it…but I think us parents had more fun retelling our childhood nightmare summers of being invaded by these little creatures!

I killed two little ones in our backyard in Lakeside Sunday. I’m surprised the entire city didn’t hear the swearing.

Two points for Herzog! Yes. It is (the foot pad) for a 1981 Honda Passport C70.

C70? Holy shit! You gonna bore that thing out to 79cc? I bet you could distill some fuel from these army worms anyway.

They’re all over just south of Floodwood. There were so many in the trees that the cabin that their droppings sounded like a constant soft rain.

Here are some army worms hanging out on the building where human droppings are deposited.

I saw quite a few at Jay Cooke last week. And I saw one on our house, near the former East High School, yesterday.
