Chicago?

What’s the word among PDD’ers about the Duluth Playhouse’s production of Chicago?

We saw it last weekend and it was absolutely fantastic, truly deserving of the standing ovation Minnesotans automatically give almost every theater performance. Great dancing, great singing, strong performances all around. Jennifer Madill, Cal Metts, and Priscilla McRoberts gave especially noteworthy performances.

I’d love, love to see it again and urge you to go see it, but I’ve heard tickets are pretty much impossible to come by, it’s sold out. Easier to get a ticket to see the Broadway production, than for you to get a ticket to see this one.

Tickets are long, long gone. But it is a fantastic production. What impressed me most was the strength of the dancing company. I’ve always known we have some very talented female dancers, but the men really came into their own in this production.

Jen Madill’s performance in “Velma takes the stand” was my favorite moment of an evening filled with outstanding performances.

Sounds like we need an extended run. Let’s get hopping, playhouse!
