Retribution Gospel Choir? Hidden Treasure? Park Point?

The video for Retribution Gospel Choir’s single “Hide it Away” on the upcoming album 2 clearly shows the band members burying a treasure on Park Point. I task you, people of Duluth to search out and find (or discredit the existence of) said treasure!

Please remember, don’t walk through or disturb the sea grass on Park Point, even if you have mutton chops.

Cool video, Anybody know who shot that?

Brian, that was the first thing I thought when I watched it was how they were trampling through the delicate grass!

And, Adam, are you speculating or is there a show tomorrow?

There is an existing trail in the grass where they shot this (by airport) so, most likely, no grass was harmed.

This video is pretty funny. It looks like they’re burying Al. Also he hardly helps the boys dig. He’s more of a supervisor.

I don’t understand anymore the convention of having singers sing during videos like this. No one is playing their instruments, so why pretend to sing? Just to give me a good laugh? Oh, well, ok then. Thank you.

Nice song and video, but remind me to never grow a set of mutton chops.

I especially like the creepy horse heads.

I can assure you all that no delicate sea grass was disturbed in the making of this video. Meanwhile, your mom likes the muttonchops just fine…

I think that beyond the giving maria a good laugh–maybe there’s something interesting about showing the vocalist singing the words, even when they’re clearly not singing with real instruments at the time. It might serve to underscore or emphasize that a song is a performance that combines lyrics/vocalizing/language with music. I like seeing the way a singer either does or doesn’t “put the song over” lyrically. At any rate, that’s my take on it.

I find it interesting Mr. Sparhawk had no comment on whether or not the buried treasure is still there.

I too find this most interesting and am hoping some savvy Duluthians will do some position triangulating with known points on the beach and the visible objects in the background of the video to do some treasure hunting.

Great song and great videos. I’m still trying to figure out the horse heads. Looks almost like Ojibwe totem dolls. Cool.
