WCCO Reports: Favre will be at Vikings’ training camp
I know. I know. We have heard so much about nothing about this that, who cares? Well this is finally news that seems pretty legit coming from WCCO.
Wonder if Cory Hollenhorst thought Favre would ever actually be a Viking when he doctored up this SI cover as a joke? According to WCCO’s Mark Rosen it seems Favre will be a Viking and the equipment manager already ordered the Purple #4.
Well I guess the good news is we will not throw a 3-yard dump off to the fullback on a 3rd-and-8 with Favre at the helm. Can you say Super Bowl?

My favorite TV news stories about Brett Farve are the ones in which the sports guy simply mentions that there’s nothing new to report today about Brett Farve. Well, thanks Scoop.
As for this WCCO story … we’ll see.
I am speechless
Wait, what?
knock on wood
Why can’t he slither back to the swamp lands of Mississippi and stay there!
More importantly, what does Favre think about the domestic partner registration?
There’s no way I could care any less. Thank you very much.
It’s always funny to me on blogs and online forums when somebody goes out of their way to post that they don’t care about something.
Provided that his injury doesn’t flare up and he plays like he did in the first half of the season for the Jets last year, Favre really could make the difference for the Vikings.

Touche, Daniel!
Let me clarify: Who in their right mind would care about some physically-spent (albiet “legendary”) sports figure who has no hope of “rescuing” a middling sports franchise?
Like Paul said, the media is NUTS over this story, for no reason. It’s a non-story.
Did somebody else have No. 4? Do they tell him, “You have to change numbers because Brett Favre is coming”? How does that work?
Third-string quarterback John Booty has dibs on #4 right now, but if Farve joined the Vikings Booty would probably have to wear a mesh practice jersey all year.
Vicarious, if Farve actually plays for the Vikings it’s about as juicy as a sports news story gets, but if it doesn’t happen it will indeed have all be ridiculous.
But yeah, I guess even for a juicy sports story it’s pretty much already ridiculous no matter what.
Damn you, Danny (and Paul)! This conversation has me delving deeper into my anti-Vikings psychosis…I thought I was finally past the pain.
But no, I was once a rabid Vikings fan. I’m old enough to (vaguely) remember watching Tarkenton and the Purple People Eaters in the 70’s Super Bowls, eating popcorn in my jammies on the family room floor with the huge Magnavox. I stayed interested even into the Dark Period of Les Steckel and his 3-13 record (shudder). I remember all the “superstars” who we’re gonna save the Vikings: all of them, there at least a dozen. And I (bitterly, bitterly) remember I-Will-Not-Speak-His-Name in 1998, when he ordered Cunningham to kneel at the end of the first half, cementing the outcome.
And from that day on, I buried my Viking Love deep, deep down inside, heart-broken for good.
Now here is Favre, the next in the decades-long line of Next Great Hopes. I will not be fooled again!
Paul, yes it is a VERY interesting development, historically. But I simply cannot get on board the excitement train. My purple heart can’t handle any more disappointment.
Ditto, vicarious, on your post. The final Vikings Super Bowl loss came during a blizzard in so. MN, and I remember wondering why I missed all the action outside for another loss. Age 11. Teetering since. 1998 was a blow, ice hands Darren Nelson was a blow (tho a strike season that mattered little) and those two words, Herschel Walker. Reading this post and your lament got me thinking of an old KQRS bit when Herschel was being lauded as the easy ticket to a Super Bowl. It was a song set to a generic Jewish ditty, remember it? Anyone. Hey, Hey Herschel Walker, Hey Hey Herschel Walker. Then he lost his shoe on that kick return and I think fumbled on his first carry. Good times. The real question I have for Farve slatherers is this: at what cost a Super Bowl? And has the cache of winning one lost its luster? Each team is just another corporate entity these days. I still love football, but more for the habit and the actual game on the field than anything else. Hope? Probably left town at the sound of Fran Tarkenton’s leg breaking in 78.
What the hell are all my Grenbay fans ging to say.
Peace
The joke was on the Vikings when Herschel came to town. Dallas used him up and dumped him off at the first sign of trouble.
Tony Dorsett he was not.
Yes, this is far less interesting than someone posting their amazement at seeing two Chrysler 300’s of the same color at the same time.
The green bay fans are laughing hysterically!
We will see how much they are laughing on Nov 1st when Favre goes to Lambeau wearing the purple #4.
4Q | 00:25 | Vikings down 6 | 3rd and 9 from the GB 37..
Farve back to pass, fires a rocket over the middle… It’s Berrian in the End Zone… TOUCHDOWN. Farve to Berrian for the score…. Vikings WIN…
More likely scenarios
1. Berrian dropd the ball in the end zone
2. He misses the ball completely
3. Green Bay intercepts another Favre turnover, runs the ball back for the touchdown.
He WAS a great quarterback, now he is a little boy in an old mans body who should stay accept that his best days are behind him.
There is a reason no other teams are looking to bring him back. Granted his little boy ego wants to play against the team that made him famous.
I related news, Gargamel is joining the Smurfs.
rather, “In related news”
Brett Favre buys new home in Minneapolis suburb Edina.
The saga never ends. Favre is in Eden Prarie today and is expected to sign with the Vikings.
Greem & Gold just became my two new favorite colors. On the upside, if Favre shows his age and gets hurt early on this could finally send Chilly down the road. Always have to look for the silver lining. 🙂
It’s not easy being greem.
All he wanted to do (like any old man such as myself) was to miss out on as much training camp as he could.
unreal…..he throws 25 TDs, 26 Ints….sigh…
All he wants to do is win…

Should be a fun season.
