R.I.P. Rex Bar at Fitger’s

Rex Bar at Fitger’s closed Sunday after nearly 15 years in business. It opened in 2008, following a brief period when the bar was called Lido. Prior to that the space operated as the Fitger’s Tap Room.
“I’m over 60, so I’m just at that point,” owner Mike Lemon told the Duluth News Tribune. Lemon also owns Average Joe’s Pub in Superior and will focus more of his time on that enterprise.
Big Wave Dave and the Ripples, Àlamode and Dirty Horse performed a Friday-night concert before the finale on Sunday, which featured the Slamming Doors and the Yeah Scherz with special guests.

The Fitger's lower-level bar was a popular late-night spot, industry hangout and music venue. Owner Mike Lemon is turning attention to his Superior pub, Average Joe's.
